RumiCar has won the Special Recognition (Training) award at the fourth annual Self-Driving Industry Awards 2026, held on Friday 16 October 2026 at the Turner Contemporary in Margate, Kent, UK. Awards were presented in 24 categories this year; Vehicle of the Year went to Westwell’s all-electric Q-Truck at the Port of Felixstowe, and Person of the Year to Kaity Fischer of Wayve.

Judges’ comment

Neil Kennett, editor of Cars of the Future, said on behalf of the judging panel (19 October 2026):

“Working with last year’s Aftermarket winner, Silvera, [RumiCar Group] has developed a range of skills workshops for schools. Using small programmable cars, they demonstrate sensor inputs, decision-making and movement outputs, teaching measurement, calibration and data analysis. Our 2026 Special Recognition Award for Training goes to RumiCar.”

What was recognised

RumiCar is a palm-sized self-driving car for learning the basics of autonomous driving by doing: measure the surroundings with sensors, decide in software, and drive the motors. The award recognises the skills workshops for schools developed together with Silvera in the UK, in which pupils learn measurement, calibration and data analysis while running the cars.

Our thanks go to everyone who has supported RumiCar, and to the pupils and teachers who have taken part in the workshops. This award encourages us to bring programming education and hands-on learning about self-driving to even more people.
