We have released RumiCar Simulator v10.5.0. The release notes below are also available on GitHub.
v10.5.0
Fixed text that still appeared in Japanese in English mode, and places where the in-app explanations, the physics model explanation and the documents did not match the implementation (Stage BM; the driving physics, the learning API and the shipped sample programs are untouched — driving on the shipped courses and the result of the shipped official sample race are unchanged; the official sample race’s verifyHash e9f1da0b and the frozen hashes f0–f3 are the same as before). (1) Japanese text in English mode — the name and description of the driving area in the log when you switch it, the reason shown when a question or suggestion has too many links (URLs) to send, the reason shown when a 📥 backup cannot be imported, and the default names of courses without a name (カスタム/トラック/アニュラス/峠, now Custom/Track/Annulus/Touge, in the name field of the course editor, the logs for importing, ✔ applying, saving, submitting and deleting a course, the list of saved courses, the capacity notices and the notices of the re-run verification of official races) are now shown in English. The saved data (such as the names of saved courses) and the Japanese text are unchanged. The 4 built-in courses used before courses.json is loaded and when it cannot be read now have English names too. Remaining differences: some logs, such as the capacity notices, show the Japanese name of a shipped course instead of its English name; the file name used when exporting a course JSON is the course name as it is (such as カスタム.json); and a course you named “カスタム” or another default name yourself is also shown as Custom and so on in English mode. (2) In-app explanations and the physics model explanation — the “Theme” item of the usage guide said “5 color schemes” (there are 11 themes); it no longer gives a number. The explanation of browser-saved data (localStorage) now lists the missing items (the sound-effects, reference-line, position-marker, follow-camera and color-blind-safe toggles, and rcsim.ghlist.…, the temporary copy of the lists read from GitHub, which is not included in 📥 backups) and the defaults when nothing is saved. The note “steering has only the three values left, center and right” (Specs & Limits, §9 of the in-app physics model, §9 of the physics model explanation) now mentions the optional continuous steering, and “no distinction between left and right wheels” in §9 of the in-app physics model now mentions the precise v2 engine. The note “the tire curve is a simplified Pacejka” now says that load sensitivity exists only at full scale (the in-app explanation of v10.4.0 said there was no load sensitivity) and mentions the per-wheel load sensitivity of the precise v2 engine and the optional tire wear (the per-wheel load sensitivity of precise v2 was also added to §9 of the physics model explanation). §9 of the physics model explanation now states that the message when the stack runs out changes inside any function (setup(), loop() and your own functions). (3) Official race entries — the code that builds the car-type definition bundled with an entry is now in one place (config.js) (the content of the entries is unchanged). When part of the page is still loaded from an older version, no entry is created and you are asked to reload the page. (4) Wording of the changelog — the descriptions of (1) of v10.4.0 (word boundaries and word endings in the banned-word check) and of (1), (2) and (5) of v10.1.0 (how submission times are compared, how deadline times are written, and car-type definitions without a drift field) now match the implementation (the bodies of the GitHub Releases are left as published). Tools — validate_courses.mjs now judges the walls built by the same course generator as the app (false fatal results on the shipped track courses 20 → 0; crossings of the outer and inner walls, places narrower than the car and merged corridors are fatal and exit 1). gen_program_files.mjs writes each program with the extension of its language (.py/.js/.ino), gen_course_files.mjs gives romanized file names to the 7 bench courses too, and both accept the output directory as an argument (nothing is deleted in a directory given as an argument). The verification gate wf_i18n_check.mjs gained a check that no Japanese appears in English mode, and the race bundle and the clean-up of temporary files of wf_bi1_field.mjs were fixed. README, REBUILD and browser/README now match the implementation. The number of permanent verification gates stays at 81. What has not changed: the driving physics, the learning API, the shipped sample programs and their output, the deterministic engine of official races (🏁), and the format of saved data.
Verifying this release yourself
git clone https://github.com/RumiCar-group/RumiCar-Simulator.git
cd RumiCar-Simulator
node wf_run_all.mjs # the full assertion-gate suiteThe suite runs from a fresh clone with no dependencies beyond Node.js.
The real-browser checks under browser/ additionally need npm install and a display.
